ISKCON Ottawa Welcomes You!

The Hare Krishna Temple

Ottawa, Canada’s capital city, has had an ISKCON centre here since 1971. The temple was first located on Besserer St., then moved to Cyrville Rd. where Sri Sri Gaura-Nitai deities were installed in 1975. In 1981, the property for the current location of the temple (212 Somerset St. E.) was acquired. In 2010, ISKCON Ottawa celebrated the 35th anniversary of the installation of Their Lordships Sri Sri Gaura-Nitai.

Founder Acharya

His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada is considered the foremost contemporary (1896-1977) authority on bhakti-yoga, devotional service to Krishna (God) as taught by the ancient Vedic writings of India. Srila Prabhupada (as he’s known to his followers) translated and commented on over eighty volumes of sacred bhakti texts, such as the Bhagavad-gita As It Is and the multi-volume Srimad-Bhagavatam.
